Tuesday, September 16th Which Would You Like First?
The good news is that the price of oil is currently $92.88 and experts expect it to go below $90 in the coming weeks. According to my chart and trend reading abilities, gas should be approaching $3.20 per gallon sometime soon (all things being equal). If it goes down like experts predict, we should see sub $3 gas for the first time in recent memory.
Few things: First, next time someone says that Republicans are for small government, punch them in the face. Second, I didn't think capitalist societies 'controlled the major means of production' and bought private sector entities. Third, since when is AIG the largest insurance company in the U.S.? I must have missed that one. Fourthly, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG: U.S. Owned; Bank of America: not U.S. owned? They should change their name to 'Bank of We've-Got-More-Money-and-Healthier-Financial Instiutions-than America'

You have summed up the Republican view pretty well, problem is, they REALLY believe that in their heart of hearts!
Some conservatives apprently feel that we don't owe it to future generations to preserve and protect the environment and to conserve our natural resources. I ask you: what is conservative about that?! It is selfish to squander our resources and diminish our environment for short-term gain.

OIL!!!
Well, the really tragic thing is that it takes a long time to set up drilling and actually get oil out of the ground. Years.
My position on oil drilling is basically the Republican view - Deplete the environment and suck every gallon of oil from this rock as possible as long as: 1. I'm long dead when there are consequences to the environment 2. We don't drill or destroy the environment around me. There is plenty of America out there that I rarely see (like 49 states or so). Destroy those so i can have cheaper oil and I'm a happy camper.

I for one think this country has and will benefit from higher....yes, higher fuel prices. That is the only sure-fire way that Americans will conserve and begin living more simply. I am worried that once the price of gas drops down below $3 dollars again (if it does) then Americans may go back to buying cars that get 10 miles to the gallon.
In a related note, why are people cheering "drill, baby, drill"--that is the most asinine slogan I've ever heard, and one of the most irresponsible. Everyone knows it won't do anything but put our environment in danger--especially our sensitive oceans. It will also distract from putting all of our energy and resources into developing renewables.
