Happy Election Day

Well, it's finally here. It seems like just 730 days ago that this thing started. And we've already arrived.
Needless to say, don't forget to vote.

I'll leave you (and Joe the Plumber) with this. It's a fascinating little piece by CNN that breaks down how the McCain/Obama tax proposals will really affect voters.

I'm not in the 'Blame America First' crowd that the Conservatives talk about so often. However, I'm certainly in the 'Blame America if It is Economically Irrational' crowd. We all know why a lot of people are for McCain's plan. They will benefit! Adam Smith would be happy with such rational behavior.

But what about our friend Joe the Plumber? He's perfectly happy to forgo his own personal benefit for the benefit of those with more money. It's like being Robin Hood but in reverse.

As far as I can tell, the only reason that the Joe the Plumbers of the world want to forgo their own personal interest is so to guard against the fact that they plan on some day being wealthy enough to qualify for the tax breaks for the rich.

Isn't that like going hungry because someday you want to be really full?

On Wednesday, watch those who hate the 'Blame America First' crowd to quickly sign up to be a member of the 'Blame the Media First' crowd. Apparently we bus the media in from out of country.

On Tuesday, November 4th, Ben said:
The Republican media bashing goes hand in hand with their campaigning against "elites" in general. I think what motivates most Republicans to vote the way they do is resentment at something or somebody. Whether its protesters, minorites who take advantage of affirmative action, or people who are highly educated and well spoken--the list goes on and on. I think resentment or anger is a terrible way to make decisions--it produces terrible leaders--like Nixon and Bush.
