Ok there liberals, I forget... why are we against drilling for oil off the coast again? And aren't we class="bodytext">already doing it?

It makes sense to me that we won't see the oil tomorrow. But is that the only reason never to start to drill to get new oil? Are we so short sighted that literally our only argument is that it wont improve the price of oil by next week? And the whole argument that this area only has like 2 teaspoons of oil is not doing it for me either. If you haven't noticed, the oil companies are good at making money and aren't stupid. They wouldn't invest a lot of money, lobby Republicans with barrels of cash, just to drill to get enough oil to fill a thimble. And if it IS just a thimble, they'll take a big hit. Boo hoo.

The real reason better not be because we don't want to see an oil platform barely on the horizon when we take our stupid kids to the beach. God forbid we corrupt our children to let them see an oil platform barely visible on the horizon. I mean, i can't remember the last time i went to the beach and didn't see an oil tanker floating by. And you know what my reaction was? 'Oh hey, I think i see an oil tanker -- Oh crap! Wave! '.

And as far as drilling in Anwar, i kind of thought we were just holding out on that one to use it for a big compromise. That is, 'Ok fine, we'll let people drill for oil up in the middle of no where, but we get a solar panel on every house' or some crap like that.
