Read this article, then ask yourself what the hell it is you just read.
It's about a woman (of course from freakin Raleigh, NC) who was inspired by the movie Supersize Me to eat nothing but McDonalds food for a period of time. Now for those of you who haven't seen the movie, its an amazing documentary about a man who ate nothing but McDonalds for 30 days and nearly killed himself in the process (btw, the movie is so good because the guy is not all dramatic about what is happening to him, but what happened to his body was quite alarming). So this somehow inspired our genius fellow North Carolinian to go on the same diet. Why would she do this? To lose weight. That's right, when this woman saw Supersize Me, she apparently missed the whole point.
You see, the food at McDonalds is not only very high in calories (making people very fat), but also very processed and not condusive to healthy living. But by limiting her calories, the woman was able to lose weight. Because in her words, "...the truth of the matter is that beauty is power, and if you're fat, or your overweight, then people don't really take you seriously."
Oh and as a side note, the spokesman for McDonalds had a head scratching comment about the movie Supersize Me: " really spurred a backlash based on common sense". Yes McSpokesman, people started to think that what his message was in the movie was based on common sense, which is why the public pressured McDonalds away from supersizing and toward healthier foods.
