A Change I Don't Believe In

What are you REALLY doing to help your candidate get elected? Gave 20 bucks to the cause? Stood outside the local Farmer's market to stir up grass roots excitement? Small potatoes.

How about starting an MF'ing WAR!

All Hail Our New Overlord

To be honest, i really have not been paying close attention to the campaign season the last month or so. But apparently the mere fact that John McCain is not losing by 10 or more points means that John McCain is winning. Actually, according to the commentators, he has already won! I would like to be the first to congratulate Mr. McCain on his victory.

How did he do it? Well, apparently the 'bitter' Hillary Clinton supporters came out in large numbers and supported him. You have to admire this small, feisty demographic whose core issue seems to be little more than spite.

Next, McCain went after the large Reggaeton demographic when he got Daddy Yankee's endorsement. Who would have guessed that the 0 electoral votes from Puerto Rico would have put him over the top. Asked why he was supporting McCain, Daddy Yankee stated 'He's been a fighter for the Hispanic community and I know he's the best candidate because he's been a fighter for the immigration issue'. Evidently Daddy Yankee has not been paying attention to the campaign much either.

So what went wrong? Well, we have no shortage of opinions. The 'common' wisdom of the bully pulpit is that Obama was too generic with his message (and yet too specific). He was just another Democrat (and yet too exotic a Democrat). Voters didn't know him (and yet knew all too well he was too foreign). He was too weak (and yet too scary) to vote for.

For serious though, there should be little doubt that American Politics in 2008 is still dominated by two things alone: Fear and Abortion. If you're a politican, you can't mask your stance on abortion. With that one issue, you get 40% of one side or the other. The last 20% vote on fear. Whomever will reassure this group's fears best will win. If McCain can make people afraid of Obama's race, 'un-Americanism', or secret Muslim leanings, he'll win. If Obama can convince people to be afraid of McCain's age, or incompetence with economic issues, he'll win.

Aiken to Know

It was reported today that Clay Aiken has fathered a child.

Don't you think the reporter should have asked the most obvious question though? I mean it's the 5000 pound gorilla in the room. Everyone who read the article must be thinking it and she didn't ask.

I mean come on - how hard is it to ask - Does the fact that he conceived a child mean he is not going on tour this summer? wink

In all seriousness, does anyone else think it's strange that the day the sexually ambiguous Aiken fathers a child is the very day his neighbor John Edwards admits to an affair while denying fathering a lovechild?

Seem evident that the baby would help Aiken and hurt Edwards. Hmmm.
